Rockingham County, NC — Franklin E. Moore, recently retired Police Chief of Stoneville, NC and 30-year law enforcement veteran, has announced his candidacy for Rockingham County Sheriff in the 2026 election. With decades of experience across multiple local departments, Moore is running on a platform of honesty, transparency, and a firm commitment to public safety.

“My name is Franklin Moore, and I am honored to announce that I will be entering my name to run for Sheriff of Rockingham County in the 2026 Elections,” Moore said. “Rockingham County has always been home, and I care deeply about our community, our families, and our future. As your Sheriff, I pledge to lead with honesty, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to your safety.”

Moore’s law enforcement career spans more than three decades, including service as a Deputy with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Police Officer in Stoneville, Mayodan, and Madison, and the last 16 years as Chief of Police for the Town of Stoneville. He has also continued serving the community as a part-time 911 telecommunicator.
